Artist's Comments

One of my best insects.
Originally I wanted to fold the wings out in a flying position, but I remember more often the sight of perched mayflies and the way they sometimes hold out their forelegs as if to test the air. It's a bit sad to imagine only living a few days as an adult, but hey, at least they go out in style.

I'm uploading these partly because I mentioned them in my Artisan Crafts interview, mostly 'cause I decided I won't limit my submissions to just anime art.

I cant believe how amazingly you've folded it.
the fan where the wing pleats originate are perfectly done, well the entire thing is perfect really.

I really like the contrast between the thick body and the delicate wings. The pose...and everything else...is perfect!

Very cool, the pose looks great, and I'm glad you chose it like that.
Did you use the wet folding technique for this> It looks kinda like it. :D

Very nice :)
It reminds me of a Terry Pratchett scene; some mayflies chatting: "When I was young, that cow was over there.. And the sun was higher. Those were the days."

This is so elegant and beautifully done, and the pose/angle in this shot definitely captures an ephemeral quality (very appropriate given the topic! XD) ^^
